Dear Pastor,
We're having a mostly brown Christmas here in Minneapolis, so you didn't miss a white Christmas. My boyfriend's nephew is in Iraq with you and when you all get home this spring, we're planning to have another Christmas.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thanks for giving the birth of hope to our troops.
When you get home, I hope we can take a trip to your church some time.
Judy and Uncle Randy Luken

My prayers are with you today and always.

Loved your newsletter! You're right - out of the mouths of babes! He was just stating his internal feelings that he really wanted his dad home. You gave me (& I'm sure many others) a good laugh. You've got a special little one and with God's love and grace will return you to him & your lovely wife soon. May God bless you & everyone in your company.

Great story - that will be one that endures thru the years I'm sure. :)

God bless -- you and your family and everyone "over there" are in our thoughts and prayers, today & always.

Why I Write...

  • On 22 November 05 I received orders to report to Ft Shelby, Mississippi. I have been ordered to join the 1st Brigade Combat Team from Minnesota. I will be the chaplain of the 1-125 Field Artillary Unit, which is being re-tasked as a convoy security unit. We will leave for Iraq in the spring of 2006. Here is the story of my journey.
