A short recon of what’s out there that might draw your attention.

Scene from April, 2008: Corey and Beverly sitting at Easter table with kids and extended family. Extra cars in the driveway. Easter ham in all its glory in middle of table. Evidence of jelly beans and malted milk Easter eggs in sugar-loaded bloodstream of young Josiah. Plates piled high with Minnesota home cooking. Prayerful thanks, then laughter, joke telling, story telling, and general horsing around--all in loud volume. That, dear Chaplain, is how it's going to be. Keep the vision.

I want you to know that I saw Catherine tonight at Trinity as one of the female leads in Fiddler on the Roof. She was the only one of three daughters who wore a bright yellow scarf on her head. The others were plain. While all three young ladies were terrific, Catherine had the most speaking and singing parts. She was just terrific. She sang like a songbird. I thought of you throughout the musical whenever Catherine was on stage, which was most of the time. I miss you, brother. I agree with your "harm's way" words at Easter. Hey, that is the Call. I also laughed my butt off when I read your Stun Gun Guy. Plenty macho until you hit the floor! At every Board meeting there is an empty chair at the head table with your name plate for all to see. You are prayed over all the time by so many at Trinity. We cannot wait to see you again. While the times are grim where you are, your words are filled with life and gravity and humor. Guess that means that you are observing the words of Proverbs 4:23. The Lord be with you and yours. Your friend,
Rolle Walker

Dear Pastor Corey,

Good to hear from my boyfriend that his Uncle, Chappy Luken, is looking forward to heading back to American soil about July 13. So I'm sure you have the same orders since you both were deployed at the same time.
We are seeing evidence of spring here in Minneapolis. The trees are sprouting green buds, ice is off the lakes, (except along the North Shore and it'll be another couple weeks before the ice is off Rainy Lake in International Falls). I saw tulips blooming alongside some Univ. of Minn. buildings, and the TV show American Idol is winding down to their last half dozen contenstants for the season. You'll be home in time for county fairs, the MN State Fair, summer vacations, and our good harvest season. So let the celebration plans begin!

Using the words my girlfriend's Jewish husband use to pray before dinner, I will conclude: "Thank you for the day, for having the opportunity to get together" (even if only thru the internet, Judy says).

Thank you all for your prayers for our troops and for those who have been able to help on the homefront in their absence.
It will not go unnoticed.

Judy and Chaplain Todd's Uncle Randy

Greeting Pastor.

I like many others await patiently you return home. And as always, your words give everyone reason to think to themselves. They are always moving and thoughtful. We all hope to see you, soon...and pray for you and your fellow soldiers every day. God speed my friend.

Hi Corey, I am glad that you made it back to make this website. Since you got the message in Iraq I don't need to tell you more. But, I have an important News Update, please read and pass it along. God has made contact. The message is about Revelation. The message is from God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost respectively. It was sent in the Spring of 2006. It is about the meaning of First is Last and Last is First as written in Revelation. The message is this: In the morning I go to Heaven. In the afternoon I live my life. In the evening I die, death. What does this mean? In other words this means Birth is Last and Last is Birth. To understand this don’t think from point A to point B. Think of this as a continous circle of life. Birth is First, Life, Death, Birth is Last, completing the circle. God also said that Judgment will be before Birth in Heaven. AS birth on Earth is painful so will birth in Heaven. It is possible that this message was delivered by one of God’s Angels in the Spring of 2006. Yes, God has made contact and he sent a messenger. Spread this message along, just like a chain letter. Tell two people. Oh, One more thing, I liked your picture, your a good looking man. Melanie Stephan

Bravery. I would like to say something else besides what Jesus had to say about First is Last. I think Jesus was very brave. He walked right into what he knew was coming. He endured the worst punishment and while he was on the cross asked God to forgive them for what they did. The Romans were very cruel. I would have wanted revenge. That is the greatest show of strength and bravery ever to forgive under torture. Whenever I have problems I think of what Jesus went through, my problems are really nothing. Jesus is a brave man and now he is Lord. Melanie Stephan
